Activity LO2- (12/20/19)- Learning a New Guitar Solo

Today was the last day of school this year. When we come back in January, we will be working on our J-terms. Since it was also a half-day, I finally had found some time to work on practicing guitar. Recently, I have been struggling to find time to practice due to having more schoolwork this year. However, the lack of free time has only motivated me to finish my work so I can have time to play. In lieu of the time that I now have, I chose to challenge myself by trying to tackle a solo that I have been putting off learning for a while. The reason I had been putting this solo off was that it was long and hard to memorize. Due to this, I chose to break it down into shorter sections and learn each part separately. This strategy proved to be quite effective for the memorization aspect of the solo. However, I still faced difficulties with getting the speed and fingering of the tabs down. In order to push myself to improve, I made it a goal to be able to play along with the song. By forcing myself to do this, I practiced the solo repeatedly and was able to imprint it into my muscle memory. I am very proud to say that by breaking down the challenging song and strategizing the best way to practice, I was able to learn this song relatively quickly.
